No water goes in before bottling, so the barrels picked for the batch decide its strength and character.

Made from Buffalo Trace's low-rye Mash Bill #1 and aged for about eight to nine years, 26C has the dense, heavy profile Stagg fans look for. It's a few degrees softer than 26B (125.2 proof), which makes it a good one to pour next to 26B in a 2026 tasting flight.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Brown sugar, cherry cordial, vanilla bean, and toasted oak.

Palate: Thick and oily, with dark chocolate, caramel, and baked cherry, then cinnamon and clove as it opens.

Finish: Long and warming, with charred oak, leather, and a little espresso.

Details

Distillery: Buffalo Trace (Frankfort, Kentucky)

Batch: 26C

Proof: 124.6 (62.3% ABV)

Size: 750ml

Barrel proof, uncut and unfiltered

Add a few drops of water to bring out more of the fruit and spice.
